Plant Procurement Manager
Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Plant Procurement Manager to join our team in Catawba, South Carolina. This role is responsible for leading site-level sourcing strategies and managing a broad range of indirect and direct categories to support plant operations. The ideal candidate brings strong category management expertise and a background in Packaging or Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) environments.
This position plays a critical role in driving cost optimization, supplier performance, and operational continuity in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute procurement strategies at the plant level, aligned with corporate sourcing initiatives.
- Manage key categories including:
- Chemicals
- Energy / Utilities
- CAPEX (capital equipment & projects)
- Indirect spend (MRO, services, logistics, etc.)
- Partner with plant leadership (Operations, Engineering, Finance) to understand purchasing needs and deliver cost-effective solutions.
- Drive supplier selection, negotiation, and performance management.
- Identify and implement cost savings, cost avoidance, and efficiency improvements.
- Support capital projects procurement, including vendor sourcing, RFQs, and contract negotiations.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, contracts, and sourcing processes.
- Monitor market trends and supply risks, proactively adjusting sourcing strategies.
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to support reliability and innovation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field (MBA or advanced degree a plus).
- 5-10 years of procurement or strategic sourcing experience, preferably in:
- Packaging
- Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG)
- Manufacturing environments
- Proven experience in category management, specifically with:
- Chemicals
- Energy/Utilities
- CAPEX
- Indirect procurement
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Experience working in a plant-based or site procurement role.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a cross-functional environment.
- Strong analytical, financial, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and sourcing tools preferred.
