We are partnering with a top building materials company to appoint a Procurement Manager to join our client's team in Toronto, Canada. This is a permanent, site-focused leadership position overseeing the operational and tactical procurement of building materials, goods, and services, and driving savings, supply efficiency, and process improvements in line with regional and global strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end procurement activities for a the Toronto site, ensuring compliance with our client's policies, procedures, and specifications.
- Lead strategic sourcing and competitive bidding processes, including contract negotiations for local volumes, quality levels, and prices.
- Identify and deliver cost-saving and efficiency initiatives, tracking results through KPIs and reporting in line with our client's guidelines.
- Act as the primary procurement point of contact for site leadership, influencing change and aligning operational teams with category strategies.
- Ensure adherence to procurement compliance and best practices, supporting local training and RFx processes.
- Promote a strong health, safety, and environmental culture across all procurement activities.
Experience Required
- 5-7 years in procurement, including category management, sourcing, and operations, ideally within building materials or related sectors.
Key Skills
- Procurement: Proven ability to manage purchasing processes, contracts, and supplier relationships to optimize cost and service.
- Building Materials: Experience working with suppliers and products in construction or industrial materials, ensuring quality and reliability.
- Strategic Sourcing: Skilled in benchmarking, eSourcing, and RFx to secure favorable commercial terms.
- Data Analysis: Strong capability to interpret data, identify savings opportunities, and present results at operational and executive levels.
- Negotiation: Excellent negotiation skills, able to resolve conflicts and secure value-added agreements.
- Stakeholder Management: Comfortable working with cross-functional teams and building relationships across operations and management.
