Position Summary

The Product Development Scientist will play a key role in the R&D team, focusing on ingredient functionality, formulation development, and product optimization. This position is responsible for creating new products and improving existing ones to meet consumer needs, regulatory requirements, and manufacturing capabilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food science, ingredient interactions, and process development.


Key Responsibilities

  • Product Development:

    • Design and develop new formulations for their products and other innovative food items.
    • Optimize ingredient functionality to achieve desired sensory, nutritional, and shelf-life attributes.
  • Research & Innovation:

    • Investigate new ingredients, technologies, and processes to enhance product performance and scalability.
    • Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies.
  • Testing & Analysis:

    • Conduct bench-top experiments, pilot plant trials, and scale-up activities.
    • Perform analytical and sensory evaluations to validate product quality and consistency.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    • Work closely with Operations, Quality Assurance, and Marketing to ensure successful product launches.
    • Provide technical support during commercialization and troubleshooting.
  • Documentation & Compliance:

    • Maintain accurate records of formulations, processes, and test results.
    • Ensure compliance with food safety standards, labeling regulations, and company policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Food Chemistry, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in product development within the food industry (Dairy or prepackaged foods).
  • Strong understanding of ingredient functionality, formulation science, and processing technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with pilot plant and manufacturing environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
