Production Manager

Overview:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Production Manager to lead operations in our paper manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and converting processes, with a proven ability to manage large teams and drive operational excellence in a high-output environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership & Development

    • Lead and manage a team of 150+ employees across production lines, converting, and support functions.
    • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous learning.
    • Coach and mentor supervisors and line leaders to enhance team performance and engagement.
  • Production & Operations Management

    • Oversee daily production activities to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency targets are met.
    • Manage converting operations, including slitting, rewinding, sheeting, and packaging processes.
    • Coordinate with maintenance, quality, and logistics teams to ensure seamless operations.
  • Lean & Continuous Improvement

    • Champion Lean Manufacturing principles to eliminate waste and improve process flow.
    • Lead Kaizen events, root cause analysis, and problem-solving initiatives.
    • Implement and track KPIs to monitor performance and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Planning & Coordination

    • Collaborate with planning and supply chain teams to align production schedules with customer demand.
    • Ensure optimal use of materials, labor, and equipment to meet production goals.
    • Support new product introductions and process changes with minimal disruption.
  • Compliance & Safety

    • Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations.
    • Conduct regular safety audits and lead incident investigations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Paper Science, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in production management within the paper or packaging industry.
  • Strong knowledge of converting operations and paper manufacturing processes.
  • Proven experience implementing Lean, Six Sigma, or other CI methodologies.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience with ERP systems and production scheduling tools.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards and quality management systems.
