The role will be part of a regional engineering structure delivering a large‑scale CAPEX program (~€50M), with approximately half of the budget allocated to process installations in a hygienic dairy environment.

The Process Engineer will work closely with senior process managers and European engineering leads, focusing on the technical concepting, preparation, design coordination, and execution of hygienic process installations on site. This role is highly hands‑on and shop‑floor driven, working with suppliers, integrators, and installation teams to ensure successful implementation of the process systems.

Key Responsibilities

Process Engineering & Technical Scope

  • Support the engineering, design, and execution of hygienic process installations in the dairy industry (milk processing technologies, separation, fermentation, raw milk handling, and associated utilities).
  • Work closely with the process integrator responsible for supplier management and detailed engineering.
  • Develop and review technical specifications related to dairy process equipment, including pasteurisation, CIP systems, milk reception systems, fermentation zones, separators, storage technologies, and related process areas.
  • Participate in preparation of design concepts and planning, ensuring alignment with hygienic design standards and industry best practices.
  • Support concept development, detailed design review, and installation sequencing for large-scale dairy process lines.

Project Execution & On‑Site Responsibilities

  • Act as a shop‑floor based process engineer during installation and commissioning phases.
  • Supervise and coordinate process installation activities with suppliers and integrators.
  • Resolve technical process issues on site and support troubleshooting during installation, start‑up, and testing.
  • Ensure hygienic design principles are correctly applied across all process systems and installations.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams responsible for milk reception, fermentation, separation, and CIP systems.

Project Lifecycle Support

  • Contribute to projectlifecycle phases including:
    • Concept development
    • Pre‑engineering
    • Detailed design reviews
    • Logistics planning
    • Installation and commissioning
  • Ensure technical documentation, specifications, and validation procedures comply with internal project standards.
  • Work closely with senior process managers for onboarding, knowledge transfer, and day‑to‑day direction.

Candidate Profile

Required Experience

  • 4-5+ years of experience in Food & Beverage process engineering, ideally within dairy (milk processing, pasteurisation, fermentation, separation, hygienic systems).
  • Strong understanding of hygienic design installations and sanitary process engineering standards.
  • Experience working with large industrial equipment suppliers.
  • Previous involvement in CAPEX projects, especially in process-related engineering for food or dairy environments.
  • Ability to work independently on shop-floor activities while also collaborating closely with regional managers and integrators.

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of dairy process technologies such as:
    • Milk reception systems
    • Fermentation lines
    • Separation processes (separators/centrifuges)
    • Pasteurisation
    • CIP and hygienic cleaning systems
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and supplier specifications.
  • Experience in process troubleshooting during installation and commissioning.

Soft Skills

  • Strong problem-solving mindset and hands‑on approach.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration with European engineering teams.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic project environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • High degree of independence and ownership.
