Purchasing Manager

A growing, inventory-driven organization is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead procurement, vendor management, and inventory operations. This is a hands-on leadership role with responsibility across purchasing strategy, supplier relationships, and close coordination with warehouse and receiving teams. The ideal candidate brings a strong operational mindset and a track record of driving cost savings, margin improvement, and process efficiency.

Responsibilities:

Procurement & Vendor Management

  • Own all purchasing and sourcing activities across the organization.
  • Lead supplier negotiations, pricing strategies, and long-term vendor partnerships.
  • Manage a significant annual spend across multiple suppliers.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and support margin improvement initiatives.

Inventory & Operations

  • Oversee inventory levels, forecasting, and replenishment strategies to support operational needs.
  • Partner closely with warehouse and receiving teams to ensure smooth material flow.
  • Improve inventory efficiency and reduce waste or excess stock.

Leadership & Process Improvement

  • Lead and develop purchasing and operational team members.
  • Implement and enhance procurement processes, systems, and controls.
  • Bring structure, accountability, and professionalism to the purchasing function.

Primary Objectives:

  • Strengthen long-term supplier relationships.
  • Improve margins through disciplined purchasing and negotiation strategies.
  • Optimize inventory levels and operational efficiency.
  • Elevate procurement operations through strong leadership and execution.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in procurement or purchasing.
  • Proven ownership of vendor negotiations and pricing.
  • Experience managing large annual spend portfolios.
  • Strong background in inventory management and forecasting.
  • Prior people leadership experience.
  • Comfortable operating in a hands-on, operational environment.
  • Experience with ERP or inventory management systems.

Preferred Background:

  • Experience in distribution, manufacturing, or similar inventory-intensive environments.

Reporting Structure:

  • Reports to senior executive leadership.
