Purchasing Manager
A growing, inventory-driven organization is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead procurement, vendor management, and inventory operations. This is a hands-on leadership role with responsibility across purchasing strategy, supplier relationships, and close coordination with warehouse and receiving teams. The ideal candidate brings a strong operational mindset and a track record of driving cost savings, margin improvement, and process efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Procurement & Vendor Management
- Own all purchasing and sourcing activities across the organization.
- Lead supplier negotiations, pricing strategies, and long-term vendor partnerships.
- Manage a significant annual spend across multiple suppliers.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and support margin improvement initiatives.
Inventory & Operations
- Oversee inventory levels, forecasting, and replenishment strategies to support operational needs.
- Partner closely with warehouse and receiving teams to ensure smooth material flow.
- Improve inventory efficiency and reduce waste or excess stock.
Leadership & Process Improvement
- Lead and develop purchasing and operational team members.
- Implement and enhance procurement processes, systems, and controls.
- Bring structure, accountability, and professionalism to the purchasing function.
Primary Objectives:
- Strengthen long-term supplier relationships.
- Improve margins through disciplined purchasing and negotiation strategies.
- Optimize inventory levels and operational efficiency.
- Elevate procurement operations through strong leadership and execution.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in procurement or purchasing.
- Proven ownership of vendor negotiations and pricing.
- Experience managing large annual spend portfolios.
- Strong background in inventory management and forecasting.
- Prior people leadership experience.
- Comfortable operating in a hands-on, operational environment.
- Experience with ERP or inventory management systems.
Preferred Background:
- Experience in distribution, manufacturing, or similar inventory-intensive environments.
Reporting Structure:
- Reports to senior executive leadership.
