Regional Sales Manager (South Central & South East)

Overview:

A leading high-technology manufacturer of advanced microwave, RF, and electronic components is seeking a Regional Sales Manager to drive business growth across the South Central and Southeast United States. The organization designs and manufactures standard and custom subsystems and integrated assemblies for land, sea, air, space, and defense applications, serving both military and commercial customers globally.

Role Summary:

This role is responsible for managing strategic customer relationships, expanding market share, and driving revenue growth throughout a defined territory. The Regional Sales Manager will work closely with customers, manufacturing representatives, and internal cross-functional teams to identify new opportunities, develop proposals, negotiate contracts, and achieve sales objectives.

The position requires a strong technical sales background, experience supporting defense and aerospace customers, and the ability to develop and execute territory strategies that generate sustainable long-term growth. The successful candidate will serve as the primary commercial leader for the region, balancing business development, account management, forecasting, and sales representative management.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development & Sales Growth

  • Identify, qualify, and capture new business opportunities with key customers throughout the assigned territory
  • Develop and execute territory strategies to increase market penetration and revenue growth
  • Establish objectives and sales plans to achieve booking and revenue targets
  • Leverage market intelligence, customer insights, and industry trends to uncover new opportunities

Customer Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers across the region
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with commercial and defense customers
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through responsive communication and support
  • Coordinate timely resolution of customer concerns and business issues

Sales & Proposal Management

  • Prepare quotations for standard products and support development of complex, high-value proposals
  • Manage the entire sales cycle, including lead generation, qualification, proposal development, and contract negotiation
  • Negotiate and close multi-million-dollar contract opportunities
  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts and pipeline reporting

Territory & Representative Management

  • Lead and manage a network of domestic contract sales representatives and manufacturing representatives
  • Drive accountability, performance, and revenue generation across the representative channel
  • Create effective communication channels between customers, representatives, and internal teams
  • Monitor territory performance and implement strategies to improve results

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with engineering, manufacturing, marketing, and customer support teams to deliver solutions that meet customer requirements
  • Participate in integrated product teams to support new product development and strategic initiatives
  • Provide market feedback and competitive intelligence to influence product and business strategies
  • Support sales promotion, training, and market research activities as needed

Defense & Strategic Account Development

  • Partner with prime defense contractors to identify and track program opportunities
  • Monitor program activity and secure design-in opportunities for future business
  • Develop strategic account plans to strengthen customer relationships and drive growth
  • Forecast program timing and revenue opportunities with accuracy

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 9+ years of experience OR 10+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Proven track record in technical sales within electronics, RF/microwave, aerospace, defense, or related industries
  • Strong understanding of RF, microwave, or related technologies, or experience in a comparable technical discipline
  • Experience working with prime defense contractors and government-focused programs
  • Demonstrated success negotiating and closing high-value, multi-million-dollar contracts
  • Ability to develop and execute territory and account growth strategies
  • Strong forecasting, business planning, and customer relationship management skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience managing external sales channels, manufacturers' representatives, or regional partner networks

Additional Requirements:

  • Residence within the South Central United States strongly preferred
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout the assigned territory
  • Ability to provide accurate forecasts and achieve booking and revenue objectives
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance preferred
  • U.S. citizenship may be required for positions requiring security clearances
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Must meet eligibility requirements for access to export-controlled information under ITAR and EAR regulations
  • Pre-employment background screening and drug testing may apply
