Role Overview
As Sales Manager, you will be responsible for managing a small team, overseeing performance, and driving growth across existing customers while expanding strategic relationships. You will also be entrusted with 5-7 key accounts, ensuring service excellence and identifying new opportunities for revenue development.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial & Account Management
- Manage a portfolio of 5-7 key accounts, ensuring service excellence and commercial growth.
- Drive multimodal sales across air, sea, and road freight.
- Identify up-selling and cross-selling opportunities to maximise customer value.
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a small commercial team (3-6 people).
- Monitor team KPIs and ensure performance targets are consistently met.
- Support team members during client meetings, pricing discussions, and strategic negotiations.
Performance & Operational Alignment
- Review and manage sales KPIs weekly/monthly to ensure continuous improvement.
- Ensure the right commercial infrastructure is in place - tools, processes, reporting.
- Collaborate closely with operations, finance, and product teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
Strategic Planning
- Create and implement a commercial action plan to support growth targets.
- Provide market insights, competitor intelligence, and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Support the development of new trade lanes and industry verticals.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Strong background in freight forwarding with exposure to air, sea, and road freight.
- Proven experience leading a small team or senior mentoring position.
- Strong account management and customer relationship skills.
- Comfortable reviewing KPIs, managing performance, and implementing process improvements.
