Overview:
A leading manufacturer in the sustainable materials and industrial packaging sector is seeking a Senior Electrical Project Engineer to lead and execute capital projects at its Jacksonville-based mill. This role is critical to supporting operational goals related to safety, environmental compliance, quality, and cost efficiency. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, project management skills, and a collaborative mindset to drive continuous improvement across the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all phases of capital and expense projects from initial concept through equipment installation and commissioning
- Develop detailed project scopes, cost estimates, and implementation schedules
- Collaborate with internal teams, engineering firms, and vendors to prepare and review technical drawings and specifications
- Oversee design activities across disciplines including electrical, structural, piping, and process control
- Ensure all project work complies with site safety and environmental standards
- Conduct design review meetings and coordinate construction and start up activities
- Manage contractors, consultants, and maintenance teams to ensure timely and cost-effective project execution
- Monitor project budgets and provide accurate cash flow forecasts
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation and ensure integration into the site's engineering document control system
- Provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams to resolve electrical and control system issues
- Promote and support reliability initiatives such as Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), data tracking, and continuous improvement tools
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment; experience in pulp and paper is a plus
- Strong analytic and problem-solving skills with a focus on process improvement
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects
- Familiarity with PLCs, DCS, HMI systems, and power distribution
- PMP certification is a plus but not required
