Senior Maritime Electrical Manager

Position Overview

The Senior Maritime Electrical Manager leads a team of electrical engineers in the design, integration, and delivery of shipboard electrical systems for new construction and vessel modification projects. This role oversees all aspects of electrical design, ensures regulatory compliance, and collaborates closely with production, project management, and other engineering disciplines.

Electrical System Design & Oversight

  • Lead the development of electrical system designs, schematics, and layouts for vessel construction and refit projects.
  • Review and approve electrical drawings and documentation to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance.

Team Leadership & Coordination

  • Supervise, mentor, and support a team of electrical engineers and designers.
  • Assign tasks, set priorities, and ensure timely delivery of engineering outputs.

Project Management & Collaboration

  • Work closely with naval architects, mechanical engineering teams, and production personnel to integrate electrical systems.
  • Participate in project planning, scheduling, and technical review meetings.

Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all electrical designs comply with relevant maritime regulations and classification requirements.
  • Oversee quality checks and resolve technical issues during construction, testing, and commissioning.

Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices.
  • Address design challenges and field discrepancies in a timely manner.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 5-7 years of experience in maritime or vessel electrical engineering, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical and familiarity with 3D modeling or ship design software.
  • Strong understanding of shipboard electrical systems.
  • Ability to interpret and apply maritime classification and regulatory standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with PLC programming and power management systems.
  • Familiarity with shipyard production processes and safety protocols.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and maintain detailed documentation.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to meet vision standards and differentiate colors.
  • Ability to pass required medical or respiratory evaluations.
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, kneel, squat, stoop, climb, and work overhead.
  • Capable of working in confined spaces and maneuvering through small openings.
  • Comfortable working at heights and on elevated platforms.
  • Capable of carrying tools or equipment up to approximately 75 pounds.

Work Conditions

  • Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Responsible for reporting injuries, equipment issues, and safety concerns.
  • May work in indoor and outdoor environments, including production areas and ship spaces.
  • Must maintain a pace that aligns with project schedules.
