About the Role
The Category Manager / Strategic Sourcing role leads sourcing strategy and supplier relationships across a portfolio of medical and surgical products, including standard and select custom items. This position owns the category lifecycle from strategy and supplier selection through new product launches, commercialization, and ongoing performance management, working closely with cross‑functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute category sourcing strategies aligned to market trends, supplier capabilities, and risk
- Support new product development (NPD/NPI) initiatives and product transfers
- Lead supplier selection, RFI/RFP processes, and contract negotiations
- Manage supplier relationships, performance reviews, and issue resolution
- Oversee sourcing projects from concept through commercialization
- Support pricing strategies, volume commitments, and ongoing cost management
- Proactively manage risks related to demand variability, supplier capacity, and product lifecycle changes
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, category management, or supply chain (medical/surgical preferred)
- Experience supporting new product launches or product changes
- Strong negotiation, supplier management, and analytical skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, quality, operations, and commercial teams
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or Engineering
