R&D Food Scientist - Dairy Applications
Our client, a global leader in the ingredients manufacturing space, is seeking a (Sr.) R&D Scientist to join the R&D team. This role focuses on new product development for dairy and dairy-adjacent applications, supporting formulation work from concept through commercialization, including pilot plant and scale-up activities. The position emphasizes protein systems and thermal processing, with flexibility in title and level based on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize formulations for dairy and dairy-adjacent products
- Execute bench-top and pilot plant trials for new product development
- Work with high-protein systems, stabilizers, buffers, and flavors
- Evaluate the impact of thermal and aseptic processing on product performance
- Troubleshoot formulation and processing challenges
- Analyze data and document technical findings
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support commercialization efforts
- Support internal and external customer projects from concept development through commercialization and troubleshooting
- Lead technical workstreams and manage project timelines to meet customer and business objectives
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science or a related discipline
- 3-5 years of experience in dairy or dairy-focused R&D
- Hands-on experience with dairy formulations and protein systems
- Understanding of thermal processing, including aseptic applications
- Comfort working hands-on in lab and pilot plant environments, including sensory evaluation
- Strong formulation, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to manage multiple development projects simultaneously
