Area Sales Manager - Northern California Agriculture Market
Position Overview:
A leading corrugated packaging manufacturer is seeking an Area Sales Manager to lead growth within the Northern California agriculture and produce market. This role will be responsible for developing and executing commercial strategies, driving profitable growth, strengthening customer relationships, and providing leadership to a field-based sales team.
The ideal candidate is a proven sales leader with deep corrugated packaging expertise and a strong understanding of the California agriculture market. This individual will serve as both a strategic leader and coach, helping develop a high-performing sales organization while partnering closely with customers and internal stakeholders to create long-term value.
This position reports to the Area General Manager and is a fully remote, field-based role supporting Northern California.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, coach, and mentor a team of outside sales professionals responsible for both account management and new business development.
- Foster a high-performance culture focused on customer success, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and execute regional sales strategies that drive revenue growth, profitability, and market share expansion.
- Build strong partnerships across Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, Marketing, Revenue Management, and other cross-functional teams.
- Leverage knowledge of the agricultural and produce markets to support customer growth and identify new business opportunities.
- Maintain and expand relationships with key industry stakeholders throughout the Northern California agricultural community.
- Drive pricing strategy, forecasting, and business planning to improve market profitability and overall financial performance.
- Ensure the sales team maintains a robust pipeline and achieves established growth objectives.
- Utilize CRM and sales management tools to monitor performance, identify opportunities, and support business planning.
Qualifications
Must-Have Experience:
- Proven experience leading, coaching, mentoring, and developing a field-based sales team.
- Extensive corrugated packaging experience with strong technical and commercial knowledge of the industry.
- Demonstrated success selling corrugated packaging solutions into agricultural, produce, or related markets.
- Strong understanding of the key growers, packers, processors, and decision-makers within the Northern California agriculture market.
- Experience developing and implementing successful sales strategies, pricing initiatives, and growth plans.
- Strong business and financial acumen, including forecasting, profitability analysis, budgeting, and P&L management.
- Must currently reside in Northern California or have significant experience supporting the California market and a desire to relocate back to the region.
