Engineering Manager

The Engineering Manager provides strategic and technical leadership for engineering operations within a manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for advancing operational performance through process optimization, technical innovation, and the development of engineering capabilities. Working closely with plant leadership, the Engineering Manager ensures equipment, processes, and systems support production objectives while driving a culture of continuous improvement and engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement engineering strategies that support operational and business goals.
  • Serve as the primary technical resource for addressing complex manufacturing, equipment, and process-related challenges.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts focused on enhancing safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency.
  • Manage the design, development, and deployment of manufacturing processes, production equipment, and plant systems.
  • Establish, maintain, and enforce engineering standards, procedures, and documentation practices.
  • Partner with operations leadership to prioritize engineering initiatives and support production requirements.
  • Oversee capital investment projects, including scope development, budgeting, execution, commissioning, and validation.
  • Facilitate root cause investigations and corrective action plans for significant operational issues and equipment failures.
  • Promote innovation and foster a culture centered on continuous improvement and technical growth.
  • Lead, coach, and develop engineering personnel while supporting talent development and succession planning efforts.
  • Maintain expertise in manufacturing technologies, production processes, and emerging industry trends.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies, materials, and engineering solutions to improve operational capabilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to share best practices, improve standardization, and support broader business objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or a related discipline) required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience, including demonstrated leadership responsibilities within a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing operations.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing equipment, mechanical systems, and industrial process design.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Background managing capital projects and implementing new equipment or production systems.
  • Understanding of reliability-centered maintenance, asset performance, and process improvement techniques.
  • Experience within batch chemical manufacturing environments is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with engineering design software, modeling tools, and manufacturing systems such as ERP or MES platforms.
