Logistics & Transportation Manager
This is a highly visible role on a newly built leadership team. You'll report to a senior business leader with decades of admixtures experience. Your job is to turn a growing but under-developed logistics function into a reliable, scalable, cost-efficient operation.

Key Responsibilities
Carrier Relationship Management
- Act as the main contact for bulk liquid carriers and dedicated fleet partners, and set clear service expectations.
- Work with Procurement to negotiate lane rates, fuel surcharges, accessorials, and dedicated capacity agreements.
- Build and manage carrier scorecards that track on-time delivery, safety, and service reliability.
- Resolve carrier disputes, billing errors, equipment breakdowns, rejected trailers, and loading delays.
Routing, Dispatch & Load Optimization
- Lead routing and dispatch across multiple manufacturing sites to get pickups and deliveries done on time.
- Plan and combine orders to fill multi-compartment loads, maximize payload, stay within legal axle weights, and lower freight cost per gallon.
- Coordinate daily with plant operations, Customer Service, and carrier dispatch.
Safety, Regulatory & Quality Control
- Keep all transportation activity compliant with safety and regulatory requirements, including DOT and hazmat where applicable, and with company policy.
- Create and enforce procedures for multi-product split loads to prevent cross-contamination and protect product quality.
- Follow established business management system and EHS standards.
Continuous Improvement
- Analyze freight costs and performance data to find savings and service improvements.
- Build scalable logistics processes that keep pace with the business's growth into new regions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain, transportation, business, or a related field required.
- Transportation or logistics experience that includes direct management of bulk liquid or chemical shipments. Tanker experience is strongly preferred.
- Track record managing carrier relationships, negotiating freight rates, and driving carrier performance.
- Working knowledge of multi-compartment tanker operations, load optimization, payload capacity, and axle weight rules.
- Understanding of transportation safety regulations, product compatibility, and contamination prevention.
- Strong analytical skills and comfort working with freight cost and performance data.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead a team and influence across functions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- Valid driver's license, good driving record, and valid passport.
- Willingness to travel to manufacturing sites and carrier partners as needed.
