Ocean Freight Team Lead
Are you an experienced ocean freight professional who enjoys managing international shipments and ensuring flawless logistics execution?
In this role, you will take ownership of import and export shipments from start to finish, working closely with customers, carriers, customs specialists, overseas agents, and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient and customer-focused service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage international ocean freight shipments from A to Z, ensuring smooth and timely execution of both import and export movements.
- Coordinate with customers, shipping lines, carriers, customs specialists, and overseas agents to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Monitor shipment progress, proactively resolve delays and operational issues, and keep customers informed throughout the process.
- Prepare, review, and process transport and customs documentation while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and procedures.
- Maintain accurate shipment, costing, and invoicing records within the transport management system.
- Build strong customer and supplier relationships, acting as a primary contact for operational questions, escalations, and service-related matters.
- Monitor profitability on shipments, manage job costing, and contribute to achieving operational and financial performance targets.
Candidate Profile
- MBO or HBO education within Logistics, Supply Chain, Transport, or International Trade.
- Several years of experience in ocean freight forwarding, freight management, or international logistics.
- Strong understanding of import/export processes and shipping documentation.
- Familiarity with customs procedures and compliance requirements.
- Experience working with transport management systems; CargoWise experience is a must.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills.
- Commercial mindset with strong customer focus.
- Fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating within a team environment.
