The Product Manager, Heat Exchangers converts high‑level business strategy into a clear, actionable product strategy for the organization's heat exchanger portfolio. This role oversees the complete product lifecycle-from early research and concept development through engineering, application support, launch, and end‑of‑life planning. Responsibilities include market research, competitive analysis, product planning, positioning, defining requirements, roadmap development, and go‑to‑market execution.

The Product Manager evaluates potential product additions or enhancements, assessing feasibility, technical complexity, portfolio fit, and alignment with organizational capabilities. By incorporating industry, customer, and channel insights into the development process, they ensure the product line meets evolving market needs.

Serving as both the application engineering lead and the internal mechanical engineering product expert, this individual uses deep HVAC and heat‑transfer knowledge to drive profitable, customer‑focused solutions. They play a key role in positioning the organization as a trusted advisor in the heat‑transfer space.

Key Responsibilities (included but not limited to):

  • Develop and deliver training to build heat‑transfer expertise within Application Engineering and Technical Support teams.
  • Create and maintain product strategy documentation, including business cases, use cases, product requirements, revenue projections, and ROI analysis.
  • Build and update long‑term product roadmaps and secure internal approvals for investment.
  • Draft Product Requirements (PRD) and Market Requirements (MRD) documents.
  • Monitor sales and margin performance across new and existing products.
  • Participate in monthly and annual forecasting for units, revenue, and profit; support S&OP processes.
  • Establish pricing strategies and recommend price adjustments to meet profitability goals.
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers, channel partners, and external engineering firms.
  • Ensure the Voice of the Customer (VOC) informs product designs, improvements, and portfolio decisions.
  • Support vendor evaluations and identify potential product partnerships.
  • Act as the organization's subject‑matter expert in heat transfer during technical discussions and high‑level negotiations with contractors, building owners, and engineering firms.
  • Collaborate with Marketing on product‑related collateral, website updates, and promotional initiatives.
  • Represent the product line at national and regional industry exhibitions.
  • Support Sales with product and technical documentation development.
  • Lead customer, representative, and internal team training on product design and application.
  • Analyze warranty data, participate in advanced troubleshooting, and coordinate continuous improvement plans.
  • Contribute to long‑range divisional planning and strategic goal‑setting.
  • Manage personal operating budgets, including travel, training, and professional memberships.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline; advanced degree preferred.
  • 5-10+ years of experience in product management, application engineering, or technical product leadership within HVAC, heat transfer, or adjacent engineered-systems industries.
  • Demonstrated expertise in heat‑exchanger design, selection, application, and system integration.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC principles, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and mechanical systems.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute product strategies, manage complex product roadmaps, and lead products through full lifecycle management.
  • Experience conducting market research, competitive analysis, and voice‑of‑customer (VOC) feedback integration.
  • Comfortable evaluating technical feasibility, product fit, and overall business impact of new product ideas or enhancements.
  • Skilled in drafting Product Requirements Documents (PRD), Market Requirements Documents (MRD), and business cases.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen, including experience with forecasting, pricing strategy, ROI analysis, and margin management.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business recommendations.
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross‑functionally with engineering, sales, marketing, operations, and external partners.
  • Experience supporting or leading customer‑facing technical discussions, including troubleshooting, training, and solution development.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers, channel partners, design engineers, and industry stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success representing product lines at industry events, exhibitions, or technical conferences.
  • Strong project management capabilities with the ability to balance multiple initiatives and drive results in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proficiency with engineering tools, CRM systems, ERP systems, and common business software.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, product quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Willingness to travel for customer visits, training, exhibitions, and cross‑functional collaboration as needed.
