Senior Quality Engineer
Overview
An established aerospace manufacturer is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to serve as a key technical leader within the quality organization. This individual will lead customer quality initiatives, drive root cause investigations, implement corrective and preventive actions, and partner with engineering and manufacturing teams to improve quality performance across the product lifecycle.
This position focuses on preventive quality engineering, continuous improvement, process capability, and customer satisfaction within a highly regulated aerospace environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the lead quality engineering representative for customer quality concerns, complaints, audits, and issue resolution.
- Lead cross-functional investigations utilizing structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D and root cause analysis.
- Develop, implement, and verify corrective and preventive actions to eliminate recurring defects and systemic process issues.
- Analyze quality and process data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Utilize advanced quality tools including SPC, FMEA, Control Plans, DOE, and MSA to support process improvement and risk reduction.
- Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, and other functional teams to improve process capability and product quality.
- Develop dashboards, KPIs, and reporting tools to support leadership decision-making and customer communications.
- Participate in design reviews, change management activities, and failure investigations to ensure quality requirements are met.
- Mentor quality professionals and provide technical guidance across the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of quality engineering experience within aerospace, aviation, manufacturing, or another highly regulated industry.
- Strong experience with root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Knowledge of quality systems and regulatory requirements commonly found within aerospace manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency with statistical and quality tools including SPC, FMEA, Control Plans, DOE, MSA, and related methodologies.
- Experience supporting customer audits, complaint investigations, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Strong communication and cross-functional leadership skills.
- Six Sigma, CQE, or similar certifications are a plus.
Preferred Background
- Aerospace, aviation, defense, advanced manufacturing, or similarly regulated industries.
- Experience working with quality management systems and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated success leading complex investigations and driving sustainable process improvements.
