A leading U.S.-based manufacturing organization is seeking an Area Manufacturing Manager to support electrical reliability and turbine operations across multiple production facilities. Position Summary
The Area Manufacturing Manager plays a critical role in partnering with corporate electrical reliability and turbine technology teams to ensure the reliability, maintenance, and continuous optimization of power distribution systems across multiple manufacturing sites. This position works closely with plant leadership, electrical engineers, and reliability professionals to improve system performance, support capital projects, and enhance operational efficiency.
This role is heavily focused on electrical power distribution systems, medium-voltage equipment, and gas and steam turbine maintenance and repair, with significant travel required to support facilities throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Reliability & Operations
- Partner with engineering and reliability teams to execute electrical power distribution priorities with an emphasis on reliability, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Provide technical support and root-cause analysis for electrical equipment failures involving facility power distribution systems.
- Support implementation of major process improvements and reliability initiatives across multiple sites.
- Assist in developing and maintaining engineering standards, specifications, and best practices.
Capital Projects & Engineering Support
- Lead electrical design efforts for capital projects, including:
- Scope development
- Equipment sizing and selection
- Detailed design
- Functional specification development
- Provide construction oversight, commissioning, startup, and project execution support.
Turbine Maintenance & Reliability
- Troubleshoot gas and steam turbine operational issues.
- Support turbine dismantling, inspection, repair planning, and equipment evaluation.
- Oversee turbine reassembly, ensuring proper setup, tolerances, and clearance dimensions.
- Collaborate with plant personnel and contractors during maintenance outages and repair activities.
Leadership & Resource Management
- Provide guidance and technical direction to plant personnel and contractors.
- Manage project budgets and spare parts inventory to support reliability objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, reliability, and operational performance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum 5 years of electrical engineering or electrical reliability experience supporting industrial manufacturing operations, preferably within the pulp and paper industry.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Thorough understanding of safe electrical work practices.
- Working knowledge of:
- NFPA 70E
- National Electrical Code (NEC)
- Proficiency with:
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft Word
- PowerPoint
- Outlook
- CAD software
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel 75%+ of the time.
Preferred Qualifications
- Project management experience.
- Experience using SKM Power System Analysis software.
- Strong background working with:
- Medium-voltage switchgear
- Medium-voltage motors
- Industrial power distribution systems
- Experience supporting gas and steam turbine equipment in an industrial environment.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation
- Base Salary: $129,500 - $185,000
- Annual Bonus: Eligible based on individual contributions and overall company performance
