Quality Assurance (QA) Manager - Food Processing

POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quality Assurance (QA) Manager to oversee our food processing operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong presence on the production floor, demonstrating an ability to lead with authority and not shy away from making critical decisions in a fast-paced environment. This role requires hands-on management and a keen eye for detail to ensure all quality standards are met and maintained.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and manage a team of technicians, ensuring effective training and development.
- Maintain a strong floor presence, spending at least 90% of the time overseeing production activities.
- Conduct and manage SQF and QA audits, serving as the primary contact during these audits.
- Ensure compliance with all USDA regulations and GMPs, working closely with an onsite USDA inspector.
- Manage documentation thoroughly and accurately.
- Possess the ability to stop production lines when necessary and escalate issues effectively.
- Fit into the company culture by adopting a hands-on, micro-management approach when needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven experience in a QA management role within the food processing industry.
- Must have direct experience with USDA regulations and audits.
- Familiarity with food processing equipment such as Weber slicers, flow vacuums, and Multivac's.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to train and develop staff.
- Capable of working in a very high-volume environment.
- Must be able to work the 1st shift and manage a team of no more than 8 technicians per shift.
COMPENSATION:
- The base salary for this position is $85,000, with discretionary bonuses.
- Eligibility for a minimum bonus of 5%.

They should be comfortable working in a very manual and demanding environment and have the personality to assert their authority when necessary.
