Chemical Purchasing Director

Position Overview

The Chemical Purchasing Director will oversee all purchasing activities related to chemical ingredients, raw materials, and supporting supplies. This role requires deep industry knowledge, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to build efficient, compliant, and cost‑effective supply chains.

You will partner closely with R&D, operations, logistics, and executive leadership to ensure consistent supply, quality assurance, and financial performance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the company's procurement strategy for chemical ingredients, additives, solvents, and other raw materials.
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard domestic and international suppliers.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and long‑term supply agreements.
  • Manage supplier performance, quality standards, and compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., EPA, OSHA, DOT).
  • Forecast material demand in collaboration with production and inventory teams.
  • Mitigate supply risks and develop multi‑source strategies.
  • Track purchasing KPIs, budgets, and cost‑saving initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and ethical sourcing policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience procuring chemical ingredients or raw materials within the chemical, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or related industries.
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • Proven success in strategic sourcing and complex vendor negotiations.
  • Strong understanding of chemical supply chains, regulatory requirements, and material safety considerations.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Experience managing purchasing teams is a plus.

  • Existing network of chemical suppliers and distributors.
  • Experience with ERP systems and advanced procurement tools.
  • Knowledge of regional and global market trends impacting chemical raw materials.
