Position Overview

The Electrical Project Engineer will play a critical role in supporting both maintenance and operations teams by providing technical guidance, project leadership, and innovative solutions to improve equipment reliability and plant performance. This position involves managing electrical engineering projects from concept through implementation, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Engineering Support: Provide technical assistance to maintenance and operations teams to resolve equipment reliability issues and troubleshoot electrical systems.
  • Safety Leadership: Promote and enforce safe work practices, ensuring compliance with company policies and mill safety standards.
  • Project Management:
    • Prepare detailed scopes of work and cost estimates for assigned projects.
    • Develop engineering, procurement, and construction strategies tailored to project requirements.
    • Design and implement approved projects, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
    • Monitor and control project scope, schedule, and cost throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Oversee construction activities and coordinate commissioning and start-up processes.
  • Preventive Maintenance:
    • Maintain accurate equipment files and databases.
    • Develop preventive and predictive maintenance procedures to maximize equipment uptime.
    • Collaborate with peers to achieve reliability and performance goals.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to optimize processes, reduce costs, and improve equipment reliability through innovative engineering solutions.
  • Communication: Provide regular updates on project status to operations and maintenance teams, ensuring transparency and alignment.
  • Leadership: Supervise mill and contract employees as needed, fostering a culture of accountability and teamwork.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Engineering Manager.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (required).
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities, delegate tasks, and solve problems analytically.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the pulp and paper industry or similar manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with industrial electrical systems, project management tools, and reliability programs.

Skills & Competencies

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with internal teams and external contractors.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and engineering software tools.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
