Are you looking for a leadership position responsible for managing and continuously improving site-level food safety and quality programs to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal requirements? This role may be for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and maintain food safety and quality systems, including prerequisite programs, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), and the site Food Safety Plan.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, including FSMA, labeling standards, and other relevant guidelines.
  • Oversee inspection, sampling, testing, and monitoring programs to verify product quality and safety.
  • Lead internal and external audits, manage corrective and preventive actions, and ensure readiness for customer and regulatory inspections.
  • Utilize statistical process control and other analytical tools to identify trends, reduce variation, and resolve non-conformities.
  • Supervise and develop quality and sanitation teams, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Manage complaint investigations, review quality trends, and implement preventive measures.
  • Maintain site-specific KPIs related to food safety and quality, reporting progress to leadership.
  • Coordinate training programs to ensure employees understand and adhere to food safety and quality standards.
  • Oversee calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment and manage site budgets for food safety and quality programs.
  • Support organic, export, and other specialized compliance programs as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in food science, microbiology, chemistry, engineering, or related discipline; equivalent experience considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years in food manufacturing with leadership experience in quality or food safety.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety systems, regulatory compliance, and auditing practices.
  • PCQI certification or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage complex programs, and collaborate across functions.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with quality management tools.

Environment

This role requires regular presence on the production floor, which may involve exposure to varying temperatures, allergens, and mechanical equipment. Personal protective equipment is mandatory. Occasional travel to other facilities, suppliers, or customers may be required.
