Logistics Manager - Americas
The Americas Logistics Manager leads end-to-end logistics operations across the Americas region, overseeing the flow of finished goods from manufacturing sites to customers, as well as managing imports, exports, and inbound raw material logistics to support production and procurement. This role is responsible for driving cost efficiency, ensuring inventory accuracy, maintaining trade compliance, and bringing together internal teams, customers, carriers, and third-party partners to deliver reliable, high-performing logistics solutions.
This position requires a strong people leader who can influence, align, and manage relationships across customer service, carriers (3PLs), and external warehouse providers, while maintaining a deep understanding of market dynamics and demonstrating strong financial discipline.
Key Responsibilities
Regional Logistics Operations
- Oversee the movement of finished goods from manufacturing sites in the Americas to customers across North America.
- Manage export shipments to other global regions and coordinate imports to ensure seamless, compliant, and cost-effective cross-border operations.
- Partner closely with supply chain, production, and procurement teams to ensure efficient and reliable inbound logistics of raw materials to manufacturing facilities.
People Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead and influence cross-functional teams, including customer service, logistics providers, carriers, and third-party warehouses.
- Act as a unifying force across internal and external stakeholders, fostering collaboration, accountability, and shared performance goals.
- Serve as a primary escalation point for logistics-related challenges impacting customers or operations.
Cost & Financial Management
- Own logistics cost performance for the Americas region, ensuring alignment with monthly and annual operational budgets.
- Apply strong financial acumen to analyze freight, warehousing, and logistics spend, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Drive cost optimization initiatives while maintaining service levels and customer satisfaction.
- Prepare and present logistics cost performance reports, including variance analysis and improvement plans.
Import & Export Management
- Manage all international logistics activities, including documentation, customs clearance, and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and carriers to ensure efficient cross-border movements.
- Ensure compliance with trade and customs regulations across the U.S., Canada, and Brazil, proactively mitigating risks.
Inventory Accuracy & Control
- Ensure accuracy of physical inventory across all warehouses and storage locations.
- Implement and maintain strong inventory control processes.
- Oversee regular cycle counts and audits, investigating and resolving discrepancies between physical and system inventories.
Procurement & Supplier Support
- Support procurement operations by ensuring timely and reliable delivery of raw materials to production sites.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and logistics service providers to minimize disruptions.
- Provide logistics expertise to support sourcing decisions and supplier performance improvement.
Process Optimization & Systems
- Identify, design, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance logistics efficiency, service, and cost performance.
- Leverage logistics and ERP systems (e.g., SAP S/4 TM, IM, EWM) to increase visibility, accuracy, and data-driven decision-making.
- Apply Lean and Six Sigma principles where applicable to streamline logistics processes.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure all logistics activities comply with applicable customs, trade, and transportation regulations.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to supply disruptions, capacity constraints, and regulatory changes.
- Develop contingency plans to protect service continuity and business performance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in logistics or supply chain management.
- Proven experience as a people manager and relationship leader across internal teams, customers, carriers, and third-party providers.
- Strong knowledge of logistics markets, transportation modes, and regional supply chain dynamics.
- Demonstrated financial acumen, including budget management, cost analysis, and performance reporting.
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA (TM, IM, EWM modules preferred).
- Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma skills preferred.
- Ability to travel as required.
