Manufacturing Engineer
JOB SUMMARY
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing manufacturing processes used to produce precision‑machined components. Core responsibilities include creating detailed process plans, developing tooling and fixturing for machining, assembly, and testing operations, establishing quality and cost standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives through Lean methodologies.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance manufacturing methods by applying sound engineering principles in product design, assembly processes, and quality control.
- Perform testing of assembled components to ensure compliance with specified quantities and engineering requirements.
- Analyze and improve work cell layouts to increase labor efficiency, strengthen workflow, and optimize floor space using Lean practices.
- Identify and eliminate waste across all stages of the manufacturing process.
- Evaluate manufacturing challenges and prioritize improvement projects that will deliver the greatest operational impact.
- Design and develop job aids-including tooling, fixtures, metrology devices, and visual work instructions-by collaborating with internal teams and external suppliers.
- Ensure product and process quality through the creation of measurement methods, establishment of quality standards, and validation of manufacturing processes.
- Create accurate and comprehensive documentation for both existing manufacturing processes and new product introductions.
- Adhere to and promote standard work procedures established for manufacturing engineering.
- Apply fundamental engineering principles to improve processes and solve technical problems.
- Communicate consistently with leadership and fellow manufacturing engineers, providing clear guidance and updates in a collaborative, team‑oriented environment.
- Lead design‑for‑manufacturability efforts; prepare process FMEAs, execute root‑cause analyses, plan facility and equipment modifications, coordinate initial production builds, and ensure manufacturing deliverables for development projects are completed on schedule.
- Research and recommend advanced equipment, automation solutions, and testing technologies; contribute to facility layout planning to maximize production efficiency.
- Support and participate in internal process improvement investigations and initiatives.
- Conduct business in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and corporate policies.
- Promote ethical conduct, demonstrating honesty, integrity, and professionalism.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
