Overview

A leading international freight forwarding company is looking for a commercially driven Business Developer to strengthen its presence in the Netherlands.

This role is ideal for an experienced logistics sales professional who thrives in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment and enjoys taking ownership beyond pure sales activities. The successful candidate will play a key role in expanding the company's Air Freight business in the Netherlands, while managing opportunities across both Air & Ocean Freight.

Unlike highly structured multinational environments, this role requires a hands-on individual who is adaptable, commercially sharp, and comfortable wearing multiple hats across the business.


Key Responsibilities

  • Drive new business acquisition across Air & Ocean Freight, with a strong emphasis on Air Freight growth.
  • Develop and execute a proactive sales strategy for the Dutch market.
  • Manage the complete sales cycle from prospecting through implementation.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key customers and decision-makers.
  • Identify opportunities across a diverse range of industries, including:
    • Machinery & Industrial
    • Fashion & Retail
    • Pharma & Healthcare
  • Prepare and present tailored logistics solutions to customers.
  • Support pricing and quotation activities to ensure competitive and profitable solutions.
  • Work closely with Operations, Customer Service, and Management to ensure seamless customer onboarding and retention.
  • Act as a true business partner internally, collaborating across multiple functions rather than operating within a single department.

Profile

  • Proven experience in Air & Ocean Freight forwarding sales.
  • Strong background in business development and customer acquisition.
  • Demonstrated success in managing and growing customer portfolios.
  • Background within entrepreneurial, mid-sized, or fast-growing logistics organizations is preferred.
  • Candidates who have operated in broad, hands-on commercial roles.
  • Experience across multiple industry sectors and supply chain solutions is advantageous.

  • Agile, flexible, and able to adapt in a fast-moving environment.
  • Comfortable handling responsibilities beyond traditional sales activities.
  • Strong understanding of pricing, quotations, and freight forwarding solutions.

  • Hands-on approach with a willingness to take ownership of both strategic and operational tasks.
  • Excellent relationship-building, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Self-starter who can work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
