Senior Mechanical Engineer (M/F/D)
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer for a permanent role at either one of their 2 sites in Ireland (depending what suits the candidate best). With more than 85 years of manufacturing and two state‑of‑the‑art production facilities, our client utilises advanced, energy‑efficient technologies to produce high‑quality products that international standards. The successful candidate will report to the Engineering Manager and will play a key role across plant maintenance and major plant improvement projects.
Role Responsibilities
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will contribute to both day‑to‑day maintenance operations and large‑scale capital improvement projects. Responsibilities include:
- Working as part of a multi‑disciplinary maintenance team
- Taking ownership of a designated plant process area
- Ensuring all preventative and predictive maintenance activities are completed effectively
- Planning and coordinating major shutdowns and overhauls
- Managing contractors on assigned jobs and projects
- Improving plant availability through effective troubleshooting and resolution of mechanical issues
- Driving continuous improvements in safety and environmental performance
- Scoping and defining projects that deliver improved business returns
- Overseeing all stages from construction to installation of new equipment
- Managing commissioning phases and ensuring smooth project handover
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will bring:
- A qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety practices within heavy industry
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Proven technical competence and strong commercial awareness
- Proficiency in IT systems, including MS Office and AutoCAD
- High attention to detail and the ability to work independently while meeting project deadlines
- A track record of delivering value and contributing positively to previous employers
