Senior Mechanical Engineer
Overview
We're partnered with a leading engineering organization supporting cutting-edge defense and aerospace systems to identify a Senior Mechanical Engineer. This role is focused on designing and delivering custom electro-mechanical solutions for mission-critical testing environments.
You'll work across the full product lifecycle-from concept through production-collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring complex, customer-driven designs to life.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design of cables, test interfaces (ITAs), and custom fixtures for automated test equipment
- Develop and release detailed CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation
- Partner with systems engineering, program management, and customers to define requirements and solutions
- Validate designs through analysis, prototyping, and testing
- Support lifecycle activities including sustaining engineering and design improvements
- Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing teams to ensure cost-effective, high-quality delivery
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- ~5+ years of experience in electro-mechanical design (cables, test fixtures, or similar systems preferred)
- Strong proficiency with CAD tools such as SOLIDWORKS
- Solid understanding of mechanical design fundamentals (tolerancing, materials, thermal considerations)
- Experience with manufacturing processes such as machining and fabrication
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities
Preferred
- Experience with automated test equipment or similar systems
- Familiarity with cable and wire harness standards (e.g., IPC/WHMA)
- Experience in aerospace, defense, or other regulated environments
- Willingness to travel occasionally (~10%)
