Senior Sustaining Engineer

Overview

DSJ Global is partnered with a leading U.S.-based manufacturer of engineered thermal systems with a strong reputation for product reliability and innovation. They are seeking a Senior Sustaining Engineer to provide technical leadership for existing product lines, with a primary focus on complex gas‑based mechanical systems. This role is critical to ensuring continued product safety, performance, and compliance while driving continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and fielded products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for sustaining engineering activities supporting existing mechanical product lines.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve complex product, manufacturing, and field issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including cost reduction, performance optimization, and reliability enhancements.
  • Lead root cause analysis efforts and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with Design, Manufacturing, Quality, and Service teams to implement engineering changes.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable industry standards, safety regulations, and certification requirements.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharing and technical best practices.
  • Support documentation updates and engineering change processes throughout the product lifecycle.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field (MS preferred).
  • 8+ years of engineering experience supporting complex mechanical or electro‑mechanical products.
  • Deep expertise in combustion‑based systems or similar thermal/mechanical technologies.
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven experience in sustaining engineering, troubleshooting, and failure analysis.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with gas system design, validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with certification and compliance processes.
  • Exposure to lean manufacturing, cost optimization, or process improvement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of heat pump, refrigeration, or control systems (PLC).
