Automation Engineer (M/F/D)
Our client are seeking to recruit a Systems Control & Automation Engineer to join their technical team.
This organisation are a long‑established organisation that has operated in Ireland for over 85 years. It runs two manufacturing facilities, where their production uses advanced, energy‑efficient technology to create a range of high‑quality products that meet the highest Irish and international standards.
The key responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Responsibility for the Siemens PCS7 central control system to ensure it operates efficiently and effectively.
- Acting as Network Owner, responsible for all servers, control system software and communication.
- Design and programming of software for projects and plant modifications as required.
- Software modifications, fault‑finding, PID loop set‑up and tuning, and providing assistance to engineers on control systems issues.
- Commissioning and signal checking for projects and plant modifications.
- Maintenance of operator stations and plant visualisation software.
- Coordinating the uploading of new software and upgrades where necessary.
- Coordinating activities with expert engineers from control system suppliers.
The role requires strong knowledge of Siemens PCS7 control systems combined with a solid technical background to interact with various departments at all stages of the production process.
Ideal candidates will possess:
- A minimum of 5 years' relevant hands‑on industry experience plus a degree or similar qualification in a technical engineering discipline.
- Experience with PCS7, Step 7, Simatic Manager and WinCC.
- Experience with Windows operating systems, security and network configuration.
- Experience with PLC programming languages including CFC, FBD and STL.
- Some exposure to SQL and a high‑level programming language.
- Knowledge of system archiving/restoration and OT cybersecurity tools and practices.
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Proven technical skills and strong business acumen.
The successful candidate will receive the necessary training to further broaden their existing knowledge.
