Automation Engineer - Role Assigment (M/F/D)

Our client, a long‑established and highly respected industrial manufacturer in Ireland, is seeking an experienced Systems Control & Automation Engineer to join their technical team.
This is an exciting opportunity for international candidates who want to accelerate their engineering career, work with sophisticated Siemens automation technologies, and relocate to one of Europe's most dynamic and welcoming countries. Full relocation support is available.
Responsibilities
As part of the engineering team, you will:
- Take ownership of the Siemens PCS7 central control system, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Serve as the Network Owner, responsible for servers, system software, and all communication layers.
- Design and program software solutions for projects, upgrades, and plant modifications.
- Carry out software updates, fault‑finding, PID loop tuning, and support wider engineering teams with automation issues.
- Perform commissioning, signal checking, and system validation for new installations and modifications.
- Maintain operator stations, HMI platforms, and visualisation systems.
- Coordinate the rollout of new software versions, upgrades, and patches.
- Work collaboratively with specialist engineers from control system suppliers.
Ideal Candidate
You will be a strong fit if you have:
- 5+ years of hands‑on industry experience in automation, controls, or a related discipline.
- A degree or equivalent qualification in engineering or a technical discipline.
- Experience with:
- Siemens PCS7
- Step 7, Simatic Manager, WinCC
- Windows OS, security practices, and network configuration
- PLC programming (CFC, FBD, STL)
- Exposure to SQL and at least one high‑level programming language.
- Familiarity with system archiving, backup, and restoration processes.
- Understanding of OT cybersecurity tools and best practices.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across departments.
- Proven technical ability with a practical, solution‑orientated mindset.
Training and professional development will be provided to further strengthen your existing skills, particularly in Siemens control technologies.
