Director of Operations

Our client is a long-established U.S. manufacturer with a 40+ year history and a highly stable, long‑tenured workforce. The company recently became part of a larger, publicly traded enterprise and is currently integrating multiple acquired businesses across the U.S. They produce engineered, product-based manufacturing solutions for both commercial and residential markets and maintain a casual, family-oriented culture built on trust, collaboration, and continuity.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic operational leadership across multiple U.S. manufacturing sites.
  • Oversee and support site-level leadership, including a highly tenured Director of Manufacturing.
  • Lead integration efforts for multiple acquired companies, including process and cultural alignment.
  • Drive standardization, operational harmonization, and cross-site consistency.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, scalability, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead Lean, Six Sigma, and CI initiatives across all manufacturing locations.
  • Champion people-centered change management in a long-tenured, relationship-driven environment.
  • Build trust through strong communication, collaboration, and follow-through.
  • Partner cross-functionally with engineering, supply chain, controls/electrical teams, and corporate leadership.
  • Align plant operations with expectations of a larger parent organization.
  • Support operational reporting and metrics from a higher-level, global perspective.
  • Navigate cultural differences between a legacy, family-oriented manufacturing environment and a large public corporate structure.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required (Associate's considered with exceptional experience).
  • 10+ years of progressive operations leadership within manufacturing.
  • Experience leading multi-site operations across the U.S.
  • Demonstrated M&A integration experience (process, systems, and cultural alignment).
  • Strong strategic operations management background (beyond single-plant leadership).
  • Lean Six Sigma experience; Black Belt preferred.
  • Proven experience leading change in a stable, long-tenured workforce.
  • Manufacturing experience in any product-based industry (plastics, metals, mechanical products, etc.).
  • Ability to build trust, communicate effectively at all levels, and lead without disrupting established culture.
  • Patient, collaborative leadership style-must avoid aggressive or abrupt change approaches.
  • Comfortable working fully onsite in a casual, down‑to‑earth environment.
