Director of Process Engineering

This Director of Process Engineering oversees the installation and execution of equipment and improvements across the site while leading the team of process engineers. The team will be increasing process efficiencies and improving production costs with an understanding of unit operations, equipment, and technologies.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Strategic Capital Planning & Execution: Lead the development and tracking of short- and long-term capital projects aligned with company goals, introducing innovative technologies to enhance competitiveness.
  • Process Design and Development: Work for ongoing operations and new projects.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination & Compliance: Ensure effective collaboration among internal teams, subcontractors, and clients, while maintaining adherence to company, contract, and client standards.
  • Risk Mitigation & Maintenance Collaboration: Identify and address obsolete or high-risk equipment with proactive solutions, working closely with maintenance teams when necessary.
  • Facility-Wide Impact & Process Improvement: Evaluate the effects of improvements across all facility functions and partner with plant teams to implement manufacturing process enhancements.
  • Leadership & Team Development: Provide strong leadership through goal setting, problem-solving, and employee relations, while overseeing staff performance, recruitment, and retention.
  • Engineering Compliance & Quality Assurance: Oversee project performance, ensuring designs meet all relevant local, state, federal, and FM Global standards, while maintaining high quality and profitability.
  • Technical Problem Solving & Cost Optimization: Provide engineered solutions and root cause analysis for complex equipment issues, and continuously identify opportunities for cost reduction in capital and maintenance projects.
  • Performance Monitoring & Communication: Track and report project progress to ensure contractual, financial, and scheduling goals are met; conduct regular reviews and provide updates to senior leadership.

Ideal Skillset:

  • B.S. in engineering or related
  • 10+ years of expertise in manufacturing and process technologies, with a strong background in the Food & Beverage or Consumer Packaged Goods sectors.
  • A decade of experience developing engineering strategies for manufacturing environments, including 7+ years of leading multiple engineering functions and managing cross-functional teams.
  • More than 5 years of leading process engineering teams.
