Electrical & Instrumentation Technician
Responsibilities
- Work is project-orientated, and you may be working on several projects, all at various stages, at any given time.
- Wiring and labeling control panels.
- Wiring and programming motors & VFDs.
- Running tests on equipment.
- Troubleshooting problems.
- Work on AC and DC systems up to 600 volts.
- Working with AC & DC drives, electrical component analysis, use of electrical meters and oscilloscopes, and basic mechanical repair.
- Knowledge and application of basic 110-480-volt electrical theory.
- Comprehension of blueprints and technical text.
- Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assemble and install electrical conduit using tools such as hacksaw, pipe threader, and conduit bender.
- Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels. Fastens these items in place with screws or bolts using hand tools and power tools.
- Test continuity of the circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components using testing instruments such as an ohmmeter, and/or megger.
- System startups and troubleshooting systems.
Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of experience or 2-year technical degree in related field.
- Be able to lift up to 75lbs
- Has knowledge of electrical theory, AC/DC systems, electrical wiring concepts, practices, and procedures. The ability to read and understand electrical schematics.
- Working knowledge of AC/DC systems, familiarity with VFD's & Motors, Electrical wiring
- Working knowledge of automation systems and components.
