Indirect Procurement Manager

A specialty pharmaceutical company is seeking an Indirect Procurement Manager to join their Global Procurement Team based out of Richmond, VA. This is a hybrid position that is 3 days in the office and 2 days work from home. Please see additional details below:

The Indirect Procurement Manager is a key member of the Global Procurement Team and a strategic partner to functions such as R&D, Commercial, HR, IT, and Manufacturing & Supply. The role ensures supplier solutions align with business needs, compliance standards, and functional strategies while driving value, innovation, and risk mitigation.

Essential Functions

  • Develop, optimize, and execute category strategies across functions including R&D, Medical Affairs, IT, MRO, and CAPEX.
  • Build sourcing plans with stakeholders to reduce risk, manage cost, and deliver innovation.
  • Translate business needs into sourcing strategies and manage end-to-end sourcing (RFP/RFQ/RFS, supplier selection, negotiation, contracting, and performance).
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory and risk frameworks.
  • Monitor supplier performance and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate spend and savings reporting for projects and suppliers.
  • Stay current on market trends, supplier innovations, and emerging technologies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Life Sciences, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree or certifications (CPSM, CIPS) preferred.
  • 5+ years of indirect procurement or category management experience.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex sourcing initiatives and negotiating high‑value contracts.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation abilities.
  • Proficiency with procurement tools (SAP, Ariba, Coupa) and Microsoft Office.
