Operations Manager
An Ohio-based manufacturing leader in homebuilding materials is seeking a dynamic and experienced Operations Leader to oversee plant-wide performance. This individual will be responsible for managing a large-scale team, driving operational excellence, and ensuring consistent, high-quality output across the facility.
The Operations Manager will have the following responsibilities:
- Oversee production schedules and output across multiple departments, ensuring smooth workflow and coordination between day and night shifts.
- Collaborate with Materials, Scheduling, and Logistics teams to maintain accurate forecasts and balanced production flow.
- Adjust staffing, materials, and resources to meet operational goals and ensure on-time delivery to homebuilding operations.
- Drive quality initiatives and in-line quality checks to meet plant standards and customer expectations; support audits and customer programs.
- Promote cross-training and alignment across value streams; coordinate with other departments to achieve shared objectives.
- Lead safety training and audits, address safety concerns, and ensure compliance with best practices and regulations.
- Monitor key performance metrics, analyze data, and lead continuous improvement efforts to enhance efficiency and output.
- Coordinate with Maintenance and capital planning to minimize downtime and ensure proactive equipment upkeep.
- Manage departmental budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Resolve escalated issues from internal teams, vendors, and customers, ensuring timely communication and documentation.
- Foster employee engagement and retention through coaching, training, and performance reviews.
- Build and develop a high-performing team through hiring, onboarding, and ongoing development.
- Recommend and lead improvements in production methods, equipment, quality, and safety; support innovation and prototype projects.
The Operations Manager will have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA a plus
- 5+ years of leadership experience, preferably in manufacturing
- Familiarity with Lean and continuous improvement methodologies
- Strong analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communicator with the ability to engage all organizational levels
- Collaborative leader with conflict resolution and team-building strengths
- Customer-focused with a drive for operational excellence
- Highly organized, dependable, and adaptable in dynamic environments
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Willing to travel to other locations as needed
