Operations Manager
We are seeking an Operations Manager to lead and optimize plant operations within a chemical manufacturing environment. This individual will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant production while driving continuous improvement initiatives across the facility. The Operations Manager will oversee production teams, coordinate cross-functional activities, and ensure alignment with quality, regulatory, and business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily plant operations, ensuring production targets are met while maintaining strict adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards
- Lead, coach, and develop production supervisors and operators to build a high-performing and safety-focused culture
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and industry-specific chemical manufacturing standards
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and increase throughput
- Collaborate with EHS, Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to maintain safe, reliable, and compliant operations
- Manage production scheduling, resource allocation, and capacity planning to meet customer demand and business objectives
- Monitor and analyze KPIs (safety, quality, delivery, cost) and implement corrective actions as needed
- Lead root cause investigations for safety incidents, process deviations, and equipment failures, ensuring sustainable corrective actions are implemented
- Partner with supply chain and procurement teams to ensure raw material availability and inventory optimization
- Support capital projects, process upgrades, and new product introductions as needed
- Develop and manage operating budgets, controlling costs while maintaining operational effectiveness
- Ensure proper documentation, SOPs, and training programs are in place and consistently followed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field preferred
- 5+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing or a highly regulated process manufacturing environment
- Prior leadership experience overseeing production teams in a plant setting
- Strong knowledge of process safety management (PSM), hazardous materials handling, and regulatory compliance
- Proven ability to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and production planning tools
