Plant Manager

The Plant Manager oversees all operational activities across two manufacturing facilities, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost‑effective plant performance. This role is accountable for production output, product quality, employee development, and budget management. The Plant Manager leads continuous improvement initiatives using lean methodologies and fosters a culture focused on safety, quality, productivity, and teamwork. The position also ensures operational alignment with company goals, customer expectations, and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily plant operations across both facilities, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and implement strategic improvements for production efficiency, product quality, and workforce utilization.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflows, processes, and resource usage.
  • Ensure production schedules align with plant capabilities, customer requirements, and financial plans.
  • Oversee and maintain operational documentation, protocols, and records.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to plant supervisors and the broader plant team.
  • Coach, mentor, and evaluate direct reports and support employee development at all levels.
  • Direct production planning, materials replenishment, and inventory coordination.
  • Partner with Human Resources to support employee relations and talent development.
  • Act as a change agent, fostering engagement and promoting continuous improvement.
  • Identify and resolve production bottlenecks through team engagement and root‑cause analysis.
  • Enforce and promote safe work practices and support facility safety programs.
  • Develop and oversee preventive maintenance programs for equipment reliability.
  • Manage plant budgets, monitor spending, and communicate financial concerns proactively.
  • Oversee capital projects, working closely with operations and engineering leadership to ensure on‑time, on‑budget execution.
  • Ensure adequate materials, equipment, and supplies are available for daily operations.
  • Support internal and external customer needs and ensure service expectations are met.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Engineering to position the plant for new growth and emerging business opportunities.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts through plant‑wide initiative teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of exempt‑level leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with employees, peers, vendors, and customers.
  • Proven project management capabilities with experience solving complex operational challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and correct operational inefficiencies.
  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience preferred.
  • Ability to work across multiple plant locations and travel as needed.
  • Understanding of industry‑specific safety, quality, and housekeeping standards (industry knowledge a plus).
