Quality Manager

Summary:

A leading manufacturer is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Manager to join their manufacturing team specializing in paper-based products for the food and beverage industry. In this role, you will ensure that all products meet food safety, regulatory, and customer requirements while driving continuous improvement across production processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality systems aligned with FDA, GFSI, and food-contact packaging regulations.
  • Conduct root-cause analyses and lead corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) for quality incidents.
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to resolve process issues and optimize product quality.
  • Oversee and improve statistical process control (SPC), sampling plans, and testing procedures.
  • Manage customer complaints, investigations, and preventive actions, ensuring timely resolution and communication.
  • Support new product development through quality risk assessments, validation testing, and documentation.
  • Train production teams on quality standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Maintain documentation including specifications, control plans, process flows, and change management records.
  • Monitor and report quality KPIs, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Paper Science, Food Science, or related field preferred.
  • 2-5+ years of quality experience in paper manufacturing, food packaging, or food & beverage production.
  • Strong knowledge of food-contact regulatory frameworks (FDA 21 CFR, cGMPs, HACCP).
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 or other relevant certifications.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in quality data analysis and reporting tools (Minitab, Excel, QMS software).
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive process improvement initiatives.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with paper converting processes (coating, printing, forming).
  • Certification such as CQE, CQA, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, or similar.
  • Hands-on experience with food packaging testing (migration testing, barrier properties, tensile strength, etc.).
