Regional EHS Manager
DSJ Global is partnered with a top food manufacturing company to hire a Regional EHS Manager at its NC facility. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing safety and security operations for close to 2,000 employees at its flagship complex and additional sites in eastern North Carolina. The ideal candidate will drive a proactive, best-in-class safety culture by continuously enhancing safety systems and collaborating with operational leaders to deliver measurable results.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety & Security Leadership: Direct all safety and security initiatives for the complex and nearby field operations, including live production and transportation facilities.
- Team Management: Supervise on-site safety and contract security personnel, ensuring consistent and effective deployment of resources.
- Security Oversight: Lead the facility's security team in implementing and maintaining site security protocols, training programs, and performance metrics.
- Regulatory Compliance: Serve as the subject matter expert on OSHA, NFPA, DHS, DOT, and other regulatory standards, ensuring all practices meet legal and corporate requirements.
- Employee Engagement: Foster a strong safety culture through regular interaction with frontline employees, addressing concerns, and promoting awareness.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute the site's safety business plan, monitor key performance indicators, and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.
- Training & Development: Oversee safety training programs to ensure timely and effective delivery across all departments.
- Incident Management: Lead or support investigations of safety and security incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Emergency Response: Act as a key member of the incident command team, coordinating emergency response efforts as needed.
- External Relations: Act as the primary contact for third-party audits, inspections, and assessments from agencies such as OSHA, insurance carriers, and local emergency services.
- Contractor Safety: Collaborate with contractors to ensure adherence to safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years in safety management within a manufacturing environment, including oversight of multiple sites.
- Certifications: Valid driver's license, 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (plus annual refresher), CPR/First Aid (or willingness to obtain).
- Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA and industrial safety standards
- Strong leadership and communication abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP, and safety management systems
- Experience with behavior-based safety programs
- Ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization
- Preferred: Master's degree and professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist).
