Senior Maritime Project Manager

The Senior Maritime Project Manager is a key leader responsible for guiding complex maritime projects from inception to delivery while working collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong commitment to safety and quality, and a passion for fostering a collaborative, high-performing team environment. The Senior Maritime Project Manager will mentor and support team members, promote shared success, and ensure project objectives are achieved through open communication and effective coordination.

Key Responsibilities

Team Collaboration & Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire project teams while promoting a culture of trust, respect, and continuous learning.
  • Facilitate open communication and knowledge sharing across departments and with vessel owners, subcontractors, and regulatory representatives.
  • Encourage team participation in decision-making and problem-solving, ensuring all perspectives are valued.
  • Support professional development and growth opportunities for team members.

Project Management & Execution

  • Oversee all phases of steel vessel fabrication, assembly, and delivery, ensuring compliance with applicable Classification Society standards and U.S. Coast Guard regulations.
  • Coordinate project schedules, resources, and budgets while proactively identifying and mitigating risks or delays.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for vessel owners and key stakeholders, representing the project team's work and accomplishments.
  • Ensure all work is performed safely and in alignment with industry best practices and organizational policies.

Continuous Improvement & Organizational Impact

  • Drive process improvements and innovation based on team feedback and industry trends.
  • Prepare and present project progress updates to leadership, highlighting achievements, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive work environment that values collaboration and diverse perspectives.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in maritime project management with a proven track record of successful team leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of steel vessel construction, material flow, and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate diverse teams, manage subcontractors, and collaborate across functional groups.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and ongoing improvement.
  • Ability to adapt to dynamic project requirements and changing conditions.

Physical Demands

  • Capable of achieving correctable vision of 20/40; in certain environments, contact lenses may not be permitted depending on safety requirements.
  • Must pass a color-vision assessment and be able to interpret safety symbols and color indicators.
  • Must meet respiratory-protection clearance requirements when applicable.
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, squat, kneel, stoop, or climb stairs/ladders as needed.
  • Ability to perform overhead work with full range of motion.
  • Must not be claustrophobic and may be required to work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to maneuver through small openings (approximately 18" x 23") and work in awkward positions when necessary.
  • Ability to maintain static work positions for extended periods.
  • Good balance and ability to stand on each foot for at least 30 seconds.
  • Must be comfortable working at elevated heights, including on scaffolding or mechanical lifts.
  • Ability to carry tools or equipment up to approximately 75 pounds.

Work Demands

  • Required to wear industry-standard personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, hard hats, safety footwear, goggles, face shields, gloves, harnesses, and other gear based on hazard assessments.
  • Must report all workplace accidents, injuries, and equipment damage according to established safety protocols.
  • May work in various indoor and outdoor environments, including production areas, dry docks, and vessel interiors.
  • Must work at a pace aligned with production and project deadlines.
