Overview

A fast‑growing premium food business is seeking an experienced UK Sales Manager to lead and expand its presence within the Major Multiples. This is a pivotal role responsible for driving retailer relationships, accelerating distribution, and delivering sustainable sales and profit growth across the UK grocery landscape.

Key Responsibilities

Account Management & Growth

  • Own the commercial relationships with major UK grocery retailers (e.g., Tesco, M&S, Sainsbury's, Asda, Morrisons, Waitrose, Co‑op).
  • Deliver annual revenue, margin, and distribution targets through effective planning and execution.
  • Lead annual joint business planning, range reviews, and promotional negotiations.

Customer Engagement & Category Strategy

  • Build strong cross‑functional relationships with buying, category, and supply teams at each retailer.
  • Use category insights, market data, and shopper behaviour analysis to shape recommendations and influence retailer decisions.
  • Identify opportunities for value creation through range optimisation, pricing, and branded activation.

Commercial Execution

  • Manage promotional planning, forecasting, and post‑promotion analysis to ensure ROI and margin integrity.
  • Monitor performance against the commercial plan, adjusting quickly to trends or risks.
  • Partner with supply chain and operations to optimise availability, service levels, and demand accuracy.

New Business Development

  • Secure new listings, drive distribution gains, and build a strong pipeline of growth opportunities.
  • Work closely with NPD and marketing teams to launch innovations successfully into retail.

Internal Leadership & Collaboration

  • Act as the voice of the customer internally, sharing insights and influencing strategic decision‑making.
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing, Category, Finance, and Supply Chain teams to deliver a cohesive go‑to‑market strategy.
  • Support demand planning and commercial forecasting with accurate, data‑driven inputs.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven success managing Major Multiples within FMCG ideally in food, chilled categories, or premium brands.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in JBP, P&L management, and negotiation at a senior retailer level.
  • Excellent understanding of UK grocery retail dynamics and category management principles.
  • Confident using data sources such as Nielsen/IRI/Kantar to shape strategy and recommendations.
  • Resilient, proactive, and entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Strong relationship‑builder with outstanding communication and presentation skills.
