Director of Sales

We are seeking a growth-oriented Director of Sales to lead national expansion within the dry kibble category. This role is ideal for someone who has successfully built and scaled a consumer packaged goods (CPG) brand from approximately $1-2M to $50M+ in annual revenue.
Reporting directly to the Chief Sales Officer, this leader will own revenue growth across grocery and mass retail, manage regional broker networks, and drive profitable distribution expansion. While pet food experience is beneficial, strong experience penetrating grocery and mass retail channels is essential.
This is a remote position with regular travel. Candidates must live within 30 minutes of a major U.S. airport.
Essential Responsibilities
- Own national revenue targets and sales strategy across Grocery & Mass channels
- Drive distribution expansion in grocery and mass retail
- Lead new account acquisition and retail partnerships
- Conduct line reviews and deliver compelling buyer presentations
- Manage and optimize performance of regional broker partners
- Establish KPIs and accountability frameworks for broker networks
- Align channel and broker initiatives with revenue and distribution goals
- Develop and manage trade spend strategy and promotional planning
- Contribute to forecasting, demand planning, and revenue analysis
- Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, operations, and finance
- Manage and develop direct reports
- Build scalable sales systems, reporting processes, and infrastructure
Job Qualifications
- 10+ years of CPG sales experience
- Proven track record scaling an emerging brand from ~$1-2M to $50M+
- Strong experience breaking into grocery and/or mass retail channels
- Direct experience managing regional brokers (required)
- Existing relationships with grocery and/or mass retail buyers
- Solid understanding of trade spend management and retail economics
- Pet food experience is a plus, but not required
- Entrepreneurial, builder mindset
- Must live within 30 minutes of a major U.S. airport and be willing to travel regularly
