Category Manager

We are supporting a leader in the retail space in their search for a 60 day Contract to Permanent Category Manager to lead procurement and vendor management across Capital Expenditures (Capex), Facilities, Maintenance, Repair & Operations (MRO), and Information Technology (IT). This role is responsible for developing and executing category strategies that drive cost efficiency, service quality, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will bring 5-7 years of relevant experience and a strong ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners to deliver value and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Category Management

  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies for Capex, Facilities, MRO, and IT categories.
  • Lead supplier selection, contract negotiation, and performance management.
  • Drive cost savings, risk mitigation, and supplier innovation.
  • Monitor industry trends and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

2. Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyze spend, supplier performance, and category metrics using tools such as Power BI, D365, and Excel.
  • Prepare and present reports and insights to leadership.
  • Track and report on category KPIs and strategic initiatives.

3. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Finance, Legal, IT, Facilities, and Operations teams to align procurement strategies with business needs.
  • Support capital project planning and execution.
  • Facilitate communication between internal stakeholders and external vendors to resolve issues and ensure service excellence.

4. Inventory & Supply Chain Coordination

  • Collaborate with supply chain and warehouse teams to manage inventory levels and distribution for MRO and facilities supplies.
  • Ensure timely procurement and delivery of goods and services to support operational continuity.

5. Process Improvement & Compliance

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance procurement efficiency and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate vendor and item records, including rebate tracking and contract documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical sourcing standards.

Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 5-7 years of experience in category management or strategic sourcing, preferably in Capex, Facilities, MRO, or IT.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., D365), reporting tools (e.g., Power BI), and procurement platforms.
