Design Quality Director - Home Appliances (Shenzhen Base)
About the Role
We are seeking an exceptional Design Quality Director to lead the NPD quality strategy for our portfolio of home appliances, including kitchen appliances, smart home devices, and IoT‑connected solutions across the Asia region. This is a senior and influential leadership role responsible for ensuring that every product we design, engineer, and launch meets the highest standards of safety, performance, reliability, and user experience.
You will partner closely with industrial design, engineering, product development, sourcing, manufacturing, and regional commercial teams to establish a truly world‑class quality culture for our consumer appliance brands.
Key Responsibilities
Design Quality Leadership
- Define and drive the Design Quality vision and strategy for all product categories-small kitchen appliances, major domestic appliances, smart home devices, and IoT ecosystems.
- Establish quality standards and design principles that reflect our commitment to premium performance, durability, and user‑centric design.
New Product Development Quality
- Lead quality requirements, risk assessments, and DfX (Design for Excellence) processes from early concept to mass production.
- Champion best‑in‑class methodologies including FMEA, DOE, reliability engineering, compliance testing, and usability testing.
Smart Home & IoT Quality Assurance
- Oversee end‑to‑end quality of connected device experiences, including hardware-software integration, app performance, connectivity reliability, firmware quality, and long‑term lifecycle support.
- Collaborate with digital/AI teams to ensure seamless function, robust cybersecurity, and customer‑friendly interfaces.
Manufacturing & Supplier Quality Management
- Lead quality governance for regional suppliers and manufacturing partners throughout Asia.
- Drive audits, qualification programs, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability, cost efficiency, and innovation output.
- Solve complex cross‑functional quality issues with structured problem‑solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, DMAIC, RCCA).
Customer Experience & Market Feedback
- Analyze VOC, product reviews, service data, and warranty trends to proactively improve product performance and reduce lifecycle failures.
- Use market insights to guide future design improvements and long‑term quality roadmaps.
Leadership & Cross‑Functional Influence
- Build and inspire a high‑performing Quality team across multiple product categories and markets.
- Partner with senior stakeholders regionally and globally to align strategic priorities and execute flawlessly.
What We're Looking For
- 12-15+ years of experience in home appliances quality, with deep knowledge of product design, engineering and manufacturing.
- Proven leadership in kitchen appliances, consumer electronics, smart home devices, IoT ecosystems, or related industries.
- Strong technical understanding of electrical safety, mechanical design, firmware, connectivity protocols (Wi‑Fi, BLE, Matter), and regulatory requirements across Asia.
- Exceptional problem‑solving skills and experience leading cross‑functional teams in fast‑paced development environments.
- Ability to work with global and regional partners, balancing innovation speed with uncompromising quality standards.
- Excellent communication skills and a passion for delivering products that delight customers.
- Mandarin Chinese speaking is a must.
