We are supporting a rapidly growing renewable energy owner and developer on their search for a Director of Procurement. This role sits within the project execution organization and is responsible for leading the full procurement lifecycle across a portfolio of utility‑scale renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS). The Director will oversee strategic sourcing, supplier management, and procurement execution for critical equipment and EPC scopes, while building and leading a team and partnering cross‑functionally to align procurement strategy with project timelines, cost targets, and broader business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, and manage a team of procurement professionals across strategic sourcing and operational buying functions
  • Develop and execute procurement strategies to secure supply, optimize commercial terms, and establish preferred supplier relationships across core equipment categories
  • Lead sourcing and negotiation of high‑value agreements for EPC contractors and major equipment, including PV modules, BESS systems, inverters, trackers, transformers, and breakers
  • Manage end‑to‑end RFI/RFQ/RFP processes, including supplier evaluation, bid analysis, and commercial negotiations
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with OEMs, EPC contractors, and suppliers to improve performance, reliability, and total cost of ownership
  • Oversee procurement execution, including purchase orders, contract administration, delivery coordination, and logistics planning
  • Ensure procurement processes are compliant, documented, and aligned with internal governance and controls
  • Coordinate equipment allocation, delivery schedules, and logistics strategies to ensure timely project execution
  • Partner cross‑functionally with development, engineering, construction, finance, and legal teams to align procurement with project and business needs
  • Support technical reviews, contract approvals, and change order management processes
  • Ensure procured equipment meets performance, reliability, and bankability requirements
  • Monitor and communicate market intelligence around pricing, supplier capacity, tariffs, and supply chain risks
  • Develop cost forecasts and procurement strategies based on market trends and supplier insights
  • Provide regular reporting to executive leadership on procurement performance, risks, and opportunities
  • Track supplier performance, contract compliance, and delivery timelines across multiple projects
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement efficiency, reduce costs, and standardize processes
  • Develop and maintain procurement systems, tools, and policies to support scalability and operational effectiveness

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, engineering, or a related field
  • 7-10+ years of procurement or supply chain experience, including leadership of sourcing and purchasing teams
  • Experience sourcing technical equipment for capital‑intensive or infrastructure projects, ideally within renewable energy or utilities
  • Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated success negotiating high‑value, complex contracts
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams and cross‑functional initiatives
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills in a project‑driven environment
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities

Preferred Skills & Attributes

  • Experience within utility‑scale solar, wind, BESS, or EPC environments
  • Familiarity with volatile supply chain conditions, tariffs, and global trade considerations
  • Background in strategic category management or capital project procurement
  • Experience with procurement systems, ERP tools, and data‑driven decision‑making
  • Exposure to analytics or advanced tools to enhance procurement strategy and reporting
