A leading Food Production firm is seeking an experienced Director of Food Safety, Quality Assurance (FSQA) to lead the Quality team.

This individual will oversee the company's quality management systems and ensure customer satisfaction. They will be responsible for developing, implementing and upholding standards, programs and systems to ensure food safety and compliance with regulations.

The Director of Food Safety, Quality Assurance (FSQA) will have the following responsibilities:

  • Ensure all products comply with FDA and USDA regulatory standards before distribution.
  • Liaise with FDA and USDA officials to guarantee products meet regulatory requirements.
  • Implement and maintain quality-based KPIs in line with FDA and USDA standards.
  • Conduct quality inspections and develop strategic processes for a 24/7 autonomous Quality organization.
  • Maintain a strong relationship with USDA, communicate updates, and facilitate necessary audits.
  • Address customer complaints and quality issues, performing root-cause analysis to identify and correct problems.
  • Review documentation to ensure compliance with FDA and USDA regulations.
  • Uphold GMP, ISO, Quality, and Food Safety standards as mandated by FDA and USDA.
  • Provide QA/QC support across all plant areas to meet FDA and USDA requirements.
  • Resolve customer delivery discrepancies and adjust production schedule priorities accordingly.
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives to achieve long-term quality goals in compliance with FDA and USDA standards.
  • Provide both short- and long-term Quality plans for capacity analysis, ensuring alignment with FDA and USDA guidelines.
  • Plan and oversee the implementation of quality systems and product testing to meet FDA and USDA standards.
  • Enhance current quality processes and systems to comply with FDA and USDA regulations.
  • Investigate customer quality complaints, conducting root-cause analysis to determine and address issues.
  • Create and implement systems to improve current processes and increase efficiency in line with FDA and USDA standards.
  • Verify that all procedures and materials meet safety requirements as per FDA and USDA guidelines.
  • Manage customer issues, implement corrective actions, and enhance quality processes to prevent future problems, ensuring compliance with FDA and USDA standards.

The ideal Director of Food Safety, Quality Assurance (FSQA) candidate will have the following skillset:

  • 15+ years of progressive Quality Management experience within the Food industry.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience leading and managing large, cross-functional quality teams.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Quality Management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Extensive experience in USDA-regulated plant environments.
  • Proven leadership and people management experience at a senior level.
  • Advanced HACCP or SQF Certifications; additional certifications in Quality Management preferred.
  • In-depth expertise with USDA and FDA regulations, including compliance and audit processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional ability to oversee multiple complex processes and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
