Our client is a well-established, mid-sized flavor house known for its agility, creativity, and customer-centric approach. With a strong presence in the food and beverage industry, they specialize in delivering high-quality, custom flavor solutions across a wide range of applications. As they continue to grow, they are seeking a talented Flavor Chemist / Innovation Scientist to join their R&D team and help shape the future of flavor innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize flavor formulations (natural, artificial, and organic-compliant) for various food and beverage applications.
- Translate market trends and customer insights into innovative flavor concepts.
- Conduct application testing to evaluate flavor performance, stability, and sensory characteristics.
- Collaborate with internal teams and customers to deliver tailored flavor solutions.
- Ensure all formulations meet regulatory and safety standards (e.g., FEMA GRAS, TTB, EU).
- Maintain detailed documentation of formulations, test results, and project milestones.
- Support scale-up and commercialization efforts in partnership with production and quality teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- 3-7 years of experience in flavor creation or food product development, within a flavor house or food manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of flavor chemistry, sensory science, and ingredient interactions.
- Familiarity with analytical tools (e.g., GC-MS, HPLC) and sensory evaluation methods.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Creative thinker with a passion for innovation and problem-solving.
- Certified Flavorist or in training toward certification.
- Experience with clean-label and natural flavor development.
- Understanding of global regulatory frameworks for flavor ingredients.
