Location: Milwaukee, WI

Salary: $100-140k + 10% bonus

The Fleet and Facility Operations Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of all facility systems and equipment, including maintenance, repairs, sanitation, groundskeeping, office space, security and services in a high-volume, temperature-controlled food distribution environment. This role oversees ammonia refrigeration and cold chain integrity and regulatory compliance. We are looking for a skilled leader to manage and develop the facilities operations and maintenance team, optimize workflows and promote continuous improvement in accordance with lean manufacturing principles. This position is critical to maintaining a safe workplace, protecting product quality, and enabling uninterrupted service to customers.

The Facility Operations Manager will be responsible for…

  • Oversee the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of ammonia refrigeration systems to ensure temperature control standards are met for perishable products. Manage cold chain integrity and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead the facility team including recruiting, training, coaching, and evaluating staff performance.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors, including utilities, refrigeration contractors, janitorial, pest control, and security services and ensure vendor compliance.
  • Develop and manage facility budgets and capital expenditure requests including the selection, purchasing and inventory management of material handling equipment and refrigeration units.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, USDA, Tax Commission, etc.).

  • 5+ years of facilities management experience.
  • Ammonia refrigeration experience required. Ammonia Operator 1 Certification is preferred or is willing to obtain after hire.
  • Proven leadership experience managing maintenance teams, budgets, and vendor contracts.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA, EPA, USDA, FDA, GMP, and other regulatory compliance requirements.
