Role Overview
The Global Supply Manager - Mechanical will own sourcing and supply chain strategy for key mechanical commodities, including machined metals, plastics, motors, and other precision components. This role is responsible for developing a resilient, cost-effective, and scalable supply base to support New Product Introduction (NPI) and production. The ideal candidate combines strategic vision with hands-on execution and thrives in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Own sourcing and supply chain strategy for mechanical commodities (machined metals, plastics, motors, and related assemblies).
- Develop and execute commodity strategies that balance cost, quality, lead time, and risk mitigation.
- Identify, qualify, and onboard global suppliers; negotiate commercial terms and long-term agreements.
- Partner with Engineering and Product teams to align supplier capabilities with design requirements and manufacturability goals.
- Drive cost modeling, BOM analysis, and make vs. buy decisions to optimize total cost of ownership.
- Manage supplier performance through KPIs, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with Operations, Finance, and Quality teams to ensure material readiness for NPI and production builds.
- Assess and mitigate supply chain risks, including geopolitical, capacity, and single-sourcing vulnerabilities.
- Support ERP data accuracy and procurement workflows for seamless execution.
- Provide leadership in cross-functional sourcing reviews, presenting strategies and risk assessments to senior management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field; MBA preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in global sourcing or supply chain management for mechanical commodities.
- Proven track record in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, and NPI support.
- Strong understanding of machining, plastics, motors, and mechanical assemblies.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) and data analytics tools (Excel, Tableau).
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity and fast-paced environments.
